I love rocks. Don’t ask me why. It’s just one of my little quirks. I also love to paint them. In fact, it’s one of our favorite craft activities to do around our house with the girls. On road trips that we take, my girls are constantly stuffing their pockets full of rocks. O.k. maybe me too. So, I thought why not take painted rocks and combine them with wire to make cute photo holders out of them.
Rockin’ Wire Photo Holders
Here’s What You Need:
- Rocks
- Acrylic Paint
- Wire Cutters
- Wire
- Satin or Gloss Clear Spray Paint (Optional)
Step 1: Paint your rocks with the acrylic paints and let them dry. Spray them with gloss or satin spray paint to finish & seal the rocks. This will also help the paint not chip when you wrap the wire around it.
Step 2: Cut a length of wire long enough so that it wraps around your rock, has several inches of straight length and enough length for your finishing bend. I wish I could give you an exact length, but since every rock is different, every length of wire will vary. Next, wrap the wire around your rock and twist it as close to the base as possible.
Step 3: Take your piece of wire and make a bend several inches above your straight section. Then bend it around into any shape you like. Below you can see I bent one into a spiral shape, and the other into the shape of a heart.
That’s it, Take your picture and insert it into the top of your wire holder and enjoy.
