Fabric Bracelet Tutorial : Creative & Easy

I love decorating for all of the holidays.   Easter is my second favorite holiday to decorate for.   After Christmas, of course!

In case you haven’t noticed, I am pretty frugal!  I make regular trips to Dollar Tree for decorating items.  I especially like to head over to Dollar Tree after the most recent holiday and getting great items for 1/2 price!

Dollar Tree Glitter eggs

I purchased some plastic eggs after Easter last year.  I knew I would find a craft (or two) to use them with!  My first thought was to paint the eggs with white chalk paint and glue flowers on them.  While painting them, I kept thinking that I wanted to do more.

I decided that I needed some glitter!  I mean, who doesn’t love glitter?

Here is how I made these Dollar Tree Glitter Eggs:

  • Pour some craft paint into a dish and sprinkle with a little bit of plaster of paris (maybe a 1/4 tsp. of plaster of paris to 1/2 bottle of paint), stir well.  Make sure all of the lumps are gone.  (You just made chalk paint!)
  • Open the eggs and then cut the piece that attaches them, you want the egg separated.
  • Using a small paint brush, apply the paint to each egg.  You will need to give each egg at least 2 coats of paint.
  • Let the paint dry between each coat.  I let them dry for about an hour after each coat.
  • Put the eggs back together.
  • Pour some white glue in a dish (I used Elmers).
  • Pour various colors of glitter in bowls.
  • Using another paint brush, paint half of the egg with glue (You could paint the whole egg if you choose).  I painted the larger part of the egg with paint.
  • As soon as you have applied the glue, cover the egg with glitter.  Tap of any excess and then set aside to dry.
  • I made sure that I covered the seam with glue.  I wanted to make sure that the seam was covered with glitter and was no longer visable.
  •  Set aside to dry.  I used an upside down egg container to dry them in.

You are now finished!  I love these eggs.  I think they add such flair to my table.  I was really excited to be able to use some of my egg cup collection to display them in.

I can think of so many ways to use these eggs.  Here are a few of my ideas:  lay them in a basket, use them in a mantle setting, place them on the center of a plate at the dinner table.

I think you could easily use them in a Tea Time setting.  What are your great ideas for using these frugal, easy and fun Dollar Tree Glitter Eggs?

With thousands of products at your fingertips, it’s no wonder people visit the dollar store for cheap gifts! Not only are these glitter eggs a fun gift, but they can easily be customized to match any theme or color scheme.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you glitter plastic Easter eggs?

Instructions. Apply Mod Podge to one-half of the plastic Easter Egg. The egg’s Mod Podge-coated region should next be covered with glitter using a plastic spoon. Any glitter that doesn’t adhere to the Mod Podge will immediately flake off and be usable once more.

How do you decorate Easter eggs?

Each egg’s interior should be blown out before decorating, and then different hues of acrylic paint should be applied by hand. After the glue has dried, apply polka dots, swirls, or other patterns to the painted eggs with a liner brush. Then add glitter to the wet glue.

How do you dye Easter eggs?

Mix 1/2 cup boiling water, vinegar, and food colouring in a small basin or cup. Eggs should be submerged in dye for 5 minutes, rotating them occasionally to ensure even coating. Remove the eggs from the dye using a slotted spoon or tongs and place them on a rack to drain. When dry, put in the fridge.
