Kids love to eat frozen treats, but sometimes they can be a bit messy. That’s where these cool popsicle holders come in! They’re perfect for kids who want to enjoy their popsicles without having to worry about cleanup. Plus, they make a great gift for parents or grandparents who have kids who love to eat ice cream. So why not add one of these fun holders to your shopping list this holiday season?

I totally forgot to show you these fun popsicle holders I made for the kids in Marisol and Flynn’s classroom at the end of the school year.
I had seen felt ones on-line before, but the thought of having wet, sticky felt that needs to be washed from drips and sticky fingers sent me searching for an alternative that could be wiped clean or rinsed out in the sink. Then I remembered I had some oilcloth scraps in my craft room and they were the perfect color to match boxes of Jolly Rancher popsicles that I picked up at Dollar Tree.
Popsicle Holders for Kids

What you need:
- oilcloth
- sewing machine
- These were really easy to sew, if you don’t take into count that oilcloth sticks in the sewing machine and because these are fairly narrow it’s difficult to turn inside out so you need to sew it right way out.
- Grab a popsicle and measure about half way, then allow a seam of close to a centimetre on either side – a 5mm gap for sewing, plus an extra 5mm to account for the popsicles not being completely flat.
- Cut out two pieces of oilcloth and sew the bottom and side seams and then if you like use patterned craft scissors to make a pretty edge.
- And there you have it, simple oilcloth popsicle holders.
Hope you are having a wonderful summer.

FAQs
Q: Can you make popsicles without molds?
A: You can definitely make popsicles without molds, but it may be a bit more time-consuming. One option is to use an ice pop maker, which requires no freezing or baking and only requires water, sugar, fruit juice or other flavors, and ice. Another option is to freeze the mixture in individual containers and then add a mold later. Lastly, you could try using this recipe for healthy homemade popsicles that are Dairy-free & Eggless!
Q: Why is it called a popsicle?
A: At its simplest, a popsicle is simply a frozen dessert made from water and sugar. However, the name “popsicle” actually has origins that go back much further than this! It was first used in the mid-1800s to describe an icy drink that was served cold on hot days. Interestingly enough, this drink was originally called a sherbet but it quickly gained popularity because of its similarity to ice cream. Eventually, the term “popsicle” began being used generically to refer to all types of iced drinks.
Q: What is the best material for popsicle molds?
A: Popsicles made in a stainless steel mould are the quickest to loosen when run under hot water (metal conducts heat faster than plastic), plus the moulds themselves are dishwasher-safe and long-lasting.
