DIY Valentine’s Day Gift Containers

Here’s What You Need:

  • Metal Containers
  • Napkins (Yep, I used napkins to create the design on the containers.)
  • Various Ribbon
  • Various Trim
  • Glitter Foam Hearts
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam Brush
  • Hot Glue Gun

Directions

metal containers

These are the metal containers I used.  These are from Ikea and they sell for about $.79.

This is what they are called and I found them in the gardening/plant section.

Start by brushing on a coat of Mod Podge.  Let this dry until it is just tacky.  Don’t let it dry all of the way.  Next, this is the really important part and I learned the hard way through trail and error.  The decorative napkin will have two layers to it.  Peel the layers apart and ONLY use the decorative layer.  Cut it to the length of the container and piece together in sections.  Gently rub the napkin down until it has adhered to the surface of the metal container.  Let this dry.

Next, decorate the container how ever you wish.  I just grabbed a lot of ribbon I already had from my ribbon stash and added some pom pom trim for added decoration.  Hot glue all of your ribbon in place.

Now, just fill your containers with whatever goodies you have in mind.

These containers are for Emma’s two teachers.  I used cellophane to wrap the two containers up and tied them with ribbon.  They turned out so cute.  I hope her teachers love them.   Secretly I would love to keep them.  🙂
