My oldest daughter, Emma has been making a ton of pom poms lately. I purchased some pom pom makers. They come in a package of two and they’re really easy to use. So, Emma had asked me if she could use them and ever since then we have a lot of pom poms around the house. I saw the white pom poms lying around and I thought these would make fun little animals. Even if you don’t have a pom pom maker, you can still but a large piece of cardboard and create your own. These Pom Pom Sheep are just too cute for words. This is a great kid friendly activity and a fun boredom buster for kids too. Let’s get started!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is pom pom material?
How can making pom pom sheep help develop fine motor skills in children?
Manipulating materials: Creating pom poms involves using small tools like scissors and yarn, which requires precise hand movements and coordination.
Hand-eye coordination: Children need to align the yarn and wrap it around the tool to create the pom poms, improving their hand-eye coordination.
Grasping and pinching: Using scissors or other tools to cut the yarn and shape the pom poms helps children develop their grasping and pinching skills.
Finger strength: The repetitive motion of wrapping yarn around the tool strengthens the muscles in children’s hands and fingers.
Attention to detail: Making pom poms requires focus and attention to detail, as children need to ensure that they wrap the yarn evenly and shape it correctly.
How can you customize the pom pom sheep to make them unique and individual for each child?
Use different colored yarn: Instead of using only white yarn for the sheep’s body, incorporate different colors to make each sheep stand out. This allows you to match the child’s favorite colors or create a personalized design.
Add accessories: Give each sheep its own personality by adding small accessories like bows, hats, or scarves. These can be made from various materials such as felt or fabric and can be customized based on the child’s interests or preferences.
Experiment with different sizes: Play around with the size of the pom poms to create variation among the sheep. You can have larger or smaller pom poms to represent different ages or personalities.
Personalize with names: Attach small tags or labels with each child’s name on their respective sheep. This adds a personal touch and ensures that each child knows which sheep belongs to them.
Let the children get involved: To make the sheep truly unique and individual, involve the children in the customization process. Allow them to choose colors, accessories, and even help with crafting their own pom pom sheep.
Remember, customization is all about making each pom pom sheep special and tailored to each child’s preferences. Get creative and have fun!
