Making Christmas decorations for the house is one of my favorite things to do during this time of year.  I try to make a least one keepsake each year that the entire family will be able to enjoy.  This project blew me out of the water with how well it came together.  It looks like you could easily spend $20-$30 dollars on this sign if you were to buy it at a one of those cute little boutique stores. I love how light & versatile these wood panels are, and if you’ve never tried using one before, I highly recommend it.  The other thing that I had never used before was the Stickles.  Stickles is glitter glue that is used to embellish paper products.  The glitter comes out really easy and its very simple to use.

Step 1:  Trim the “Joy” scrapbook paper to a little bit smaller than the 12 x 12 dimensions.  I just took a little bit off each side.

Step 2:  Cut 4 pieces of the “Branches” paper just a little shy of 3/4″ x 12″.

Step 3:  Using a foam brush, apply Mod Podge to the wood canvas.  Apply the paper evenly on the sides, as well as the front. Smooth out any bubbles that you might have and let this dry.

Step 4:  Taking the foam paint brush or small sponge, apply the brick red paint around the entire edge of the front of the sign.  You will repeat this for all four sides of the canvas as well.

These are what the Stickles look like if you’ve never seen them before.  So fun!

Step 5:  Embellish the wreath and berries with the Stickles.

Step 6:  Attach the red bow with a jingle bell for an extra added touch.  Done!

I love how festive this turned out and the touch of sparkle that’s been added to the wreath by the Stickles.  I also loved the sketchbook paper for the warm Holiday feel that it adds.

Letters: You can purchase pre-cut wooden letters, use stencils to paint the letters on, or create your own using cardboard or paper.
Paint: Acrylic paints work well for this project. Choose colors that match your decor or go for a festive look with red, green, and white.
Paintbrushes: Have a variety of sizes on hand to accommodate different letter sizes and details.
Glue: Use wood glue or a strong adhesive to attach the letters to the wooden board.

Techniques:
Prepare the wooden board by sanding any rough edges and ensuring it is clean and dry.
