Creating the Butterfly Accents
You can go about making the butterflies in several ways to customize your door wreath. The first way I did it was to freely paint stripes in different colors of watercolors on white cardstock, then stamp my butterflies on top. This creates a beautiful, artistic finish.
Then I fussy-cut around the butterflies. And that’s it! Make as many as you need to cover your initial. Another way is to color them in after stamping. This was fun, but took a lot more time. The other way is fun but faster. Fussy cut out the butterflies as before.
Assembling the Monogram Letter
I wanted my butterflies to have some dimension so they look like they are landing on the sign. I folded my butterflies and only added adhesive to parts of it to keep them warm and cozy. For some, I ran the folded butterfly through my Xyron Create-A-Sticker, adding a touch of winter charm. The largest one can fit through my little 1.5-inch machine, perfect for winter crafts. So when it comes out, only half of the butterfly has adhesive on the back.
When you stick it onto the wood letter, one of the wings is sticking up. NOTE: Before you cover the whole letter with butterflies, first tie some twine at the top for a hanger on the wreath for a cozy Christmas vibe. I forgot to add my hanging string to my wood letter initially. I just wrapped twine around the top a few times and left both ends long. Then I adhered a butterfly on top to conceal it.
I also used my Xyron Tape Runner to add adhesive to just the middle of the butterfly so that both wings are sticking up. This adds great texture to your wall decor.
Finishing Touches
I added one last touch, a banner that I printed out, and adhered a few butterflies to it. Here’s the banner printable if you’d like to use it for your Christmas celebrations. Or it’s just as easy to make one by hand. This personalized element makes it a perfect gift for a wedding or housewarming.

FAQs
Q: What is a summer wreath monogram and how is it different from other seasonal decorations?
A: A summer wreath monogram is a decorative wreath designed specifically for the summer season that features a personalized monogram, such as a last name initial or family name in the center. Unlike generic seasonal decoration, a monogrammed wreath offers customization and a special touch—often incorporating green blooms, bows, and cream accents—to make the product suitable for summer porch and indoor or outdoor display year-round.
Q: Can I order a custom summer wreath monogram with my last name or last name initial?
A: Yes, most sellers provide the option to commission a custom or personalized metal door tag, wooden or metal monogram, or a fabric monogram with your last name or last name initial for the winter season. You can request specific personalization details like family name, year, or shape of the metal wall monogram during checkout and typically receive a digital proof before production.
Q: What sizes are available for a summer wreath monogram and which inch measurement is suitable for double doors?
A: Summer wreath monograms commonly come in sizes ranging from 12 to 30 inches. For double doors, consider a larger size—often 24 to 30 inch wreaths or two matching 18 inch items—so the monogram and decoration remain visible and balanced. Sellers can advise on the best shape and scale to fit your entryway.
Q: Is the product suitable for outdoor display or is it indoor use only?
A: Many summer wreath monograms are made for both indoor and outdoor use, but materials vary. Outdoor options typically use weather-resistant blooms, metal monogram bases, or treated bows for durability. If you want a year-round piece, choose materials that withstand sun and moisture and confirm care instructions with the vendor.
Q: How does personalization and proofing work when ordering a monogrammed summer wreath?
A: When ordering a personalized summer wreath monogram, you can usually submit customization details—such as last name initial, color preferences like cream or green, and additional tags or details. The seller may send a digital proof or mockup for your approval before they begin production, ensuring the final item matches your request.
