I’m loving all of the Hoop Art lately and can’t get enough of it.  I wanted to make a nice little addition for our house using an embroidery hoop that included a little fabric too.  Here’s a simple how to make your own easy DIY Hoop Art with Hearts in no time.  Let’s get started.

DIY EASY HOOP ART WITH HEARTS

Supplies You Need:

  • Yarn (Enough to wrap around a 10″ hoop.)
  • 10″ Embroidery Hoop
  • Sewing Pins
  • Scissors
  • Various Fabric Scraps
  • Pinking Shears
  • Clip Art of A Heart
  • Embroidery Floss (DMC Floss)
  • Needle
  • Fiber Fill
  • Hot Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun

Step 1:  Tie a knot to secure your yarn to the hoop.  You can even use a little hot glue if you want to really secure your yarn.

Step 2:  Wrap the yarn around the hoop until the hoop is entirely covered.

Step 3:  Tie a knot  and secure the end of yarn on the back side of the hoop.

Step 4: Fold your fabric scrap in half.  Take the clip art heart and secure it in place with a pin.   Cut  two hearts out of the piece of fabric.  This will make one finished heart.   Cut 10 hearts out of fabric for 5 complete hearts.

Step 5:  Take a piece of embroidery floss and sew two  heart pieces together making sure the right side of the fabric is facing out on both pieces of fabric.  I sewed large stitches in.  Sew around the heart and leave a little opening to stuff the heart.

Step 6:  Stuff the heart with fiber fill and sew the rest of the heart closed.

Step 7:  Repeat this process for all of the hearts.

Step 8:  Hot glue the hearts in place.

There you have it.  Simple and easy and it looks cute too. I’m loving this little beauty and can’t wait to find a special place for it in our house.

FAQs

Q: What materials are used for hoop art?

A: The materials used to make hoops include metal, plastic, bamboo, and wood. Online and at most craft stores, a wide range of varieties and sizes are offered. Although there are many different kinds of embroidery hoops, they all primarily serve the same purpose.

Q: What is the meaning of hoop art?

A: Hoop art is a relatively new art form; originally, embroidery that was intended for wall exhibition would have been stretched and framed over a board or canvas, with the hoop being used only during stitching.

Q: Which cloth is best for hoop art?

A: Klona cotton is, in my opinion, the ideal fabric for hand embroidery, which I typically include in hoop and banner kits. This craft cotton is medium weight, which means it is both thin enough to easily run a needle through and thick enough to prevent stretching.
