Studded Heart Canvas
Here’s a great idea for Valentine’s Day or even any day of the year! This Studded Heart was super easy to make and required just a couple of items to make. It makes a great accent to any room in the house.
Here’s What You Need:
- 1 Canvas (I used a 12 x 12 size canvas. You can get great deals at Dick Blick on various size canvases.)
- Foam Brush
- Acrylic Paint (I used Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint in the color cloud.)
- Studs (You can find various studs at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and Ben Franklin crafts. I used the ones that have the prong in the back of them and not the heat fix type.)
Step 1:
Start by painting the canvas. If you want more of a white washed look, then lightly apply one coat of paint. I used two coats for a overall even color.

Print off a clip art heart that you like. Enlarge the heart a couple times to the size that you desire. Trace it onto cardstock or cardboard. Center on your canvas and trace around it very lightly.Step 3:
When placing the studs on the canvas, I started by locating them on the outside pencil line first. Next, I went and made a line of studs right down the center. Then, I arranged them using the tip of a pencil to push them where they looked evenly spaced. I completed the left side first and then finished the right. I found it was just easier this way. Push and poke the studs right through the canvas. Push them in enough to hold them in place, then go back and use both of your hands to push them in all the way. You will want to support the canvas with your fingers from the back to keep the canvas from stretching. It will stretch out, so be careful!
