Materials Needed:

  • 8 1/2 X 11″ Printer Paper
  • Tag board or Bristol board
  • White, Yellow and Orange Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue or Glue Stick
  • Markers or crayons- Optional

Step 1: Download the FREE PRINTABLES … Parts 1 & Part 2 . Then, print them out. Glue the printed sheet of paper with the candy corn shape to the heavier weight paper . This will help it hold it’s shape and not wrinkle so much.

Step 2: Cut 1/2″ wide strips of construction paper. Do this for all three colors.

Step 3: Tear the strips so you have squares or rectangles. It’s easier to glue them in place if you keep them sorted.

Step 4: Take the pieces of torn construction paper and have your child begin gluing them in place. If you really want the colors to work out like the candy, start with yellow at the bottom, orange in the middle and white at the top, otherwise, let your child take some artistic liberty

Step 5: You can also glue these to a piece of heavier paper. Then, have your child color the eyes and mouths, and cut them out. Combining the different eyes and mouths was my daughter’s favorite part. Once they have a combination they like, they can glue them in place.

Once the entire craft has dried, have them cut the candy corn shape out and you have a fun, home made Fall or Halloween Decoration that kept your kids occupied… for at least a little bit!

So, you can now make your own candy corn craft at home and gift it to your friends. Not just that but they will also get a chance to create their own candy corn crafts.

The only thing you need to do is provide them with the ingredients required in the making process. In case they don’t have all of them, we are sure our list will help them achieve their goal. Click here to access it!

Q: What is the purpose of candy corn?

A: Around the 1950s, when people started giving out individually wrapped candy to trick-or-treaters, candy corn became a fall and Halloween fixture. Candy corn became a fall favourite in part because of the colours associated with the harvest and the heightened advertising in October.

Q: How did candy corn get its shape?

A: Early in the 20th century, employees used big kettles to heat sugar, corn syrup, marshmallow, and other ingredients into a slurry. The warm fluid was then manually poured into cornflour trays that had been imprinted with the shape of a kernel.
